Shiplify Confidence Codes – Understanding Data Accuracy

Shiplify’s Confidence Codes are designed to reflect and inform Shiplify’s level of confidence in the accuracy of the data returned by our Location Lookup Tool. Each confidence code consists of two characters:

The First Character (A or U) – Indicates whether Shiplify has successfully geocoded the address (found the correct location on a map).

The Second Character (1-4) – Reflects our level of confidence in the specific attribute we are returning (what type of location it is, do they have a dock, do they have a forklift).

A1 Results – Shiplify’s Highest Data Quality Stamp of Approval

  • A1 Confidence Codes mean that both the location and attribute are verified with 99.5% accuracy.
    • These are the most trusted results in the Shiplify database.
    • If your result is A1, you can rely on it with confidence in your shipping decisions.

A2 – A4 Results – Verified Location, Less Certain Attribute

These results confirm the location, but the attribute (e.g., dock access, liftgate need) is not fully verified.

  • A2 (90% Accuracy) – The location is confirmed, and there is a high likelihood the attribute is correct.
  • A3 (80% Accuracy) – The location is confirmed, and the attribute is likely correct.
  • A4 (70% Accuracy) – The location is confirmed, but the attribute is less certain.

What to Do If You Get an A2-A4 Code:

  • A2 is generally reliable, but it’s best to double-check attributes before booking.
  • A3-A4 codes should be used with caution – verify the details with your customer.

U1 – U4 Results – Location Not Verified, Lower Confidence in Attributes

These results indicate that Shiplify was unable to verify the location itself.

  • U1 (80% Accuracy) – Location is not verified, but the attribute is likely correct.
    • For example- a shipment is consigned to The University of North Carolina, but the address provided is “Phillips Hall”- we haven’t confirmed where exactly the location is, but we are fairly confident it is going to the university.
  • U2 (65% Accuracy) – Location is not verified, and the attribute may be inaccurate.
  • U3 (55% Accuracy) – Location is not verified, and the attribute has low confidence.
  • U4 (45% Accuracy) – Location is not verified, and the attribute is unlikely but possible.

What to Do If You Get a U-Code:

  • Double check the address provided.
  • Call your customer for additional information

If something seems incorrect, report it to Shiplify for review using the flagging mechanism (link to other doc)

Final Takeaways

How to Use Confidence Codes in Your Shipping Decisions

  • Trust A1 Results – These have received the Shiplify stamp of approval!
  • Use A2-A4 with Caution – The location is correct, but attributes may need confirmation.
  • U1-U4 – Double check the address or call your customer for additional information.

By understanding Shiplify’s Confidence Codes, you can prevent costly errors, dispute incorrect charges, and ensure more efficient LTL shipments.
